Barack and Michelle

I'm an Independent who likes a leader to be a pragmatic, brilliant over-achiever. I simply cannot vote for someone who graduated bottom of his class. Unlike some people who equate an educated person as "elitist" as though to be taken as an affront, I simply scoff at the idea as foolish and irresponsible. How many parents will actually promote this thinking to their child? Be a failure, don't work hard, you don't need an education...I mean, how many high school students would jump at the idea of attending Harvard or Princeton?

My parents would disown me if I came home with failing grades. My Mother had an elementary education and my Father, a high school diploma. They spoke three foreign languages plus English, came from a third world country, and yet was able to make a living without relying on welfare, assimilate into the American culture, and made a lot of sacrifices to put me through school. They pushed me to be the best, to work hard to get top grades, and yet were respectful enough to allow me to choose my career, even though it was not an ideal or practical one in their minds. But they knew that I was stubborn, determined, and willing to work for what I wanted no matter what I chose to do.

I found the Obamas to be a fascinating couple. They came from humble beginnings and fought for their place in this country. They are wonderfully aware of the importance of a good education and the opportunities that come with it. I truly believe education is the key to success. And they are a shiny example of it.

The Manchurian Candidate

Sarah Palin is a dangerous choice for this country. John McCain's selection of this narcissistic, pathological liar is a self-reflection of his values.

Everything about this pair is superficial and childish.

I'm sorry to say, John, but you've lost your honor. You are not the McCain of 2000 I thought you to be. Like Joe Klein, I am extremely disappointed.

Palin's Pro-America

Every time I think about what she meant about the "Pro-America" statement, I can't help but hear this racial undertone or message.

The recent comment about her interpretation of "elitist" confirms she is using the new racial codes of the 21st century. "Elitist" is the new "uppity".

Hmm...maybe I'll make a bumper sticker out of this.

So, in response, here is my message to Sarah Palin. Yeah, it's harsh, but so is hate mongering. If we ignore what she is trying to do, we have nothing to blame if this country goes through our version of Hitler.

Neo-Fascism

Fascism comes draped in a flag or a $150,000 make-over.

I don't begrudge Ms. Palin's need of a wardrobe if it came out of her own pocket. To take donated money and splurge on frivolous items for not only Ms. Palin but her husband and children as well is a slap in the face to all "Hockey Moms" and "Joe the Plumbers".

What does it say about her and the Republicans? Should she make it to the Whitehouse, should tax payers then be accountable for paying for more "Needless Markup" shopping sprees of $75,000 per day? I guess it's all part of her usual "per diem" cost to the public.

Oh well, it's okay if you are a Republican.
